Job Summary The Procurement Specialist I reports to the Manager of Procurement Operations of the Johns Hopkins Health System (JHHS) and assists in the purchasing of products, chemicals, drugs, and non‑capital supplies. Responsibilities include daily order management, order confirmation, inventory replenishment, contract coordination, pricing resolution, and full lifecycle management of purchase orders, including exceptions handling within the Global Healthcare Exchange (GHX).
Responsibilities
Manage daily purchase order activities: ordering, confirming, tracking, and receiving goods and services.
Coordinate with suppliers, requestors and contract teams for product changes, backorders, and any issues affecting delivery.
Communicate backordered orders to original requestors and serve as a bridge for supply‑shortage mitigation.
Troubleshoot procurement process errors, identify stakeholders, and ensure successful resolution.
Serve as a liaison between customers and suppliers, building and maintaining strong vendor relationships.
Align procurement activities with the vision for supply chain excellence, ensuring quality and cost effectiveness.
Manage all exceptions in GHX, including cancellations, deferrals, and adjustments to purchase orders.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; Supply Chain, Healthcare or Business‑related degree preferred.
Minimum 6 months of procurement experience.
GHX proficiency required within the first 6 months.
LinkedIn Learning Excel training expected within the first 90 days.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Ability to navigate and prioritize issues across SAP, GHX and ServiceNow.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and listening skills.
Proven ability to troubleshoot supply‑chain related problems and drive to resolution.
High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and strong time‑management capabilities.
Quick learner with a willingness to develop within the JHHS supply‑chain department.
