Works on categories of broad and diverse complexity where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Contacts are both internal and external to the department at all levels. The Category Manager performs and oversees strategic sourcing activities for a particular category as member of the strategic sourcing team. This position is responsible for creating and executing against a sourcing strategy. They collaborate with clinical and non-clinical service line leaders to align sourcing and contracting efforts and policy initiatives for the health system. This includes setting the sourcing strategy, building relationships with key stakeholders, developing and maintaining relationships with vendors, and negotiating contracts. They partner closely with clinicians to determine product value and set focus on variation management and use including new product introductions. The Category Manager specializes in a specific set of clinical or non-clinical areas (e.g., OR, CV/IR, Acute Care, Ambulatory, Clinical, Support Services, Capital, etc.) The salary range for this position is $118,300 - $268,900 (Annual Rate). Department Description The UCSF Health Supply Chain Department plays a critical role in supporting the organization’s mission of advancing health worldwide by ensuring the efficient, cost-effective, and timely procurement of goods and services across the health system. The department oversees all aspects of purchasing, contracting, sourcing, logistics, inventory management, and supplier relations, with a strong focus on quality, compliance, and sustainability. Required Qualifications
