Overview The Opportunity: Perform material requirements planning (MRP), managing planning variables such as demand consumption, inventory levels, lead times, etc. to generate time-phased plans for material/ingredient needs according to established planning policies. The goal is to ensure raw material availability that supports manufacturing plans and helps deliver against customer service level targets. This permanent position will report to the Supply Planning Manager.

Responsibilities

Act as subject matter expert in available tools or systems that drive material requirements planning (SAP, JDA, other).

Monitor inventory levels and production plans to ensure material availability.

Utilize planning methods and principles to evaluate relevant inventory and consumption data to make recommendations that will reduce cost or increase efficiency.

Analyze and communicate constrained materials and recovery plans with relevant teams (Planning, Procurement, etc).

Perform root cause analysis on supply shortfalls and excess stock for raw materials and packaging.

Maintain control over inventories levels. Manage obsolescence of raw material by phasing out old and phasing in new SKUs, while maintaining proper inventory levels within network constraints.

Research root cause of inventory discrepancies, along with systematic issues resulting in low available inventories affecting customer service levels.

Notify and work with appropriate personnel when problems arise concerning operations, materials, inventory, documentation, raw materials replenishment, delivery or quality performance. Solicit feedback, initiate corrective action and coordinate resolution of issues. Keep stakeholders and leadership informed of critical situations.

Work with Procurement Team to ensure inventory meets the demands and expedite/de-expedite materials to prevent shortages/overages.

Communicate supplier delivery performance to Procurement team for long term resolution.

Prepare and generate reports as assigned.

Help to track and expedite QA release of materials as needed.

Interact with other departments and plants to communicate and resolve materials constraints.

Analyze the requirements of materials, using MRP to provide raw material to allow for scheduled manufacturing.

Adhere to stocking principles, planning rules, SOPs, etc., keeping up with business changes.

Actively participate in monthly Sales & Operational Planning (S&OP) meetings to ensure plans are aligned, identifying material risks and opportunities.

Provide Global Sourcing teams with scheduled requirements for materials.

Monitor aging and off-spec product and communicate with relevant parties to maximize profitability and prevent obsolete stock.

Maintain systems master data and planning parameters (e.g. SAP, JDA, etc.).

Identify opportunities to drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or a minimum of three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers and other third parties, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.

Ability to effectively present information to management.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.

Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Ability to work with mathematical concepts and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Location The opportunity will be based in West Haven, CT.
