Merck Job Description The Future Talent Program features Cooperative (Co-op) education that lasts up to 6 months and will include one or more projects. These opportunities in our Research and Development Division can provide you with great development and a chance to see if we are the right company for your long-term goals. Our company Research Laboratories in South San Francisco is an innovation hub dedicated to fostering collaboration among scientists to discover new medicines that improve human health. The Cardiorenal Biology group, part of the Cardiometabolic Disease Department, is seeking a motivated and creative Co-op with a background in in vitro pharmacology. This exciting 6-month limited-term training opportunity is ideal for an aspiring scientist to work alongside colleagues within the group, department, Research and Development in South San Francisco, and the broader our company network. Responsibilities

Perform plate based high throughput assays and analyze the results. Develop and optimize relevant in vitro cellular models. Work in close collaboration with senior colleagues to design, conduct, troubleshoot, and analyze experimental data for target identification and validation purpose. Education

Master's and PhD candidates in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Physiology, Immunology, Genetics, or related programs with hands-on experience in in vitro assays. Required Experience And Skills

Candidates must have excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills. Candidates must have strong motivation and passion for science. Candidates must have high level of organizational skills to execute project in timely manner. Candidates must employ innovative molecular and cell biology platforms to advance target validation and drug discovery efforts. Candidates must have hands on experience with in vitro biochemical and cell-based assays. Candidates must have experience in culturing cells. Candidates must be committed to experimental excellence and rigor. Candidates must have proficiency in using professional data analysis and visualization software such as Spotfire, Excel and GraphPad Prism. Preferred Experience And Skills

Candidates should have a significant interest in drug discovery. Candidates should have knowledge and experience in cardiometabolic diseases. Candidates should have experience in handling and processing ex-vivo tissue samples for downstream in vitro analysis. Candidates should have experience in laboratory skills and research experiences such as electronic notebook recording, molecular biology techniques, cell culture and/or data analysis procedures, and safe lab practices. Salary

The salary range for this role is $39,600.00-$105,500.00 USD Employment type: Intern/Co-op (Fixed Term) Location: South San Francisco, CA (US) – Hybrid work model in applicable roles; general policy and accommodations information provided where applicable. Additional information
