Supplier Quality Engineer

In this role, you will help ensure suppliers deliver quality products and services that meet technical specifications, engineering drawings, and contractual flow-down requirements. You will partner with the Purchasing team to monitor supplier performance, drive root cause analysis and corrective actions, and ensure timely documentation submission to maintain supply chain integrity and operational excellence. In compliance with state pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is
$80,640 - $120,960 . This is not a guarantee of compensation and final offer amounts may vary based on experience, location, and other factors. Responsibilities
Conduct supplier quality audits to assess new and potential supplier process capabilities, Quality System compliance, and risk. Evaluate the use of SPC or other statistical techniques for products manufactured for LS/KS. Implement and manage a supplier corrective action program to ensure timely responses and effective root cause corrective actions for open issues. Use a supplier development program to ensure Day & Zimmermann receives quality products on time, cost-effectively. Coordinate with suppliers to ensure understanding of product/service requirements, inspection techniques, and documentation expectations. Collaborate with suppliers on timely submittal of product qualification plans (FAAT) and CDRL items where applicable. Provide guidance to Receiving Inspection on inspection techniques and supplier documentation review. Work with Purchasing to streamline methods to prevent defects and incomplete documentation. Support/create a supplier quality rating system to monitor and measure supplier performance. Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree required; preferred STEM degrees (Industrial Technology, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering). Minimum 5 years of experience. ASQ CQE or CSQP certifications preferred. ISO 9001 auditor level experience; familiarity with munitions manufacturing and metal fabrication processes preferred. Skills & Attributes
Understanding of supply chain management and risk management; ability to review supplier agreements and communicate expectations. Ability to identify and mitigate risks related to on-time delivery and quality; coordinate with Purchasing and Suppliers on risk mitigation. Experience analyzing supplier quality tools and developing verification/validation plans; guidance on SPC and statistical tools to maintain process control. Capability to interpret technical specifications and drawings, assess supplier capabilities, and develop qualification plans; participate in validation discussions. Experience assessing nonconforming products, root cause analyses, and implementing corrective/preventive actions with suppliers for continuous improvement. Benefits
