Primary Purpose Responsible for performing advanced work in the coordination, organization, and facilitation of quality and performance improvement (PI) activities. Assists in mentoring, guiding, and supporting PI colleagues and others within and external to the Quality and Safety Operations (QSO) division. Works with the department leadership to provide enterprise-wide expertise and consultation related to quality and process improvement methodologies at all levels in the organization. Leverages data to drive complex and multiple PI projects in assigned areas and within cross-functional teams. Identifies trends and key areas for continuous improvement, and effectively prioritizes project lifecycle and workload. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission and values. Minimum Specifications Education : Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a related field of study from an accredited college or university required. Master’s degree preferred. Experience : Must have at least six (6) years of quality/performance improvement experience preferably in a healthcare setting with three (3) years of experience utilizing Lean/Six Sigma and Project Management methodologies. Equivalent Education And/or Experience : An equivalent combination of education/experience in lieu of specific experience and/or experience may be considered. Certification/Registration/Licensure : Certified Lean / Six Sigma Green Belt or higher required. Current employees must obtain this certification by August 1, 2024. Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) required. Skills Or Special Abilities : Must demonstrate advanced command of quality, performance improvement, and project management methodologies and strategies using evidence-based best practices; excellent organizational, analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills; excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills; ability to work independently and within an interdisciplinary team; functions as a resource and mentor for PI colleagues; advanced computer skills with Microsoft Office; knowledge of statistical software such as QI Macros, Minitab; ability to create and maintain organized, confidential project plans; flexibility and adaptability; knowledge of Joint Commission standards, Texas Department of Health licensure requirements, CMS regulations, and related guidelines; understanding and implementation of high-reliability principles to promote patient/employee safety; professional judgment to prioritize work; professional etiquette and adherence to codes of conduct. Responsibilities Independently researches and provides analysis, reports, and recommendations for quality and performance improvement initiatives based on strategic and key projects as directed. Develops statistically appropriate metrics with clear operational definitions to monitor process improvement and stability; collects and analyzes data, identifies opportunities, develops solutions, implements improvements and sustainability with appropriate spread of standardized best practices. Participates and leads multidisciplinary quality and improvement teams and committees; represents the department and health system in outreach and collaborative efforts. Lead and mentor project teams utilizing appropriate performance improvement methodologies and data-driven decision making across all levels across the health system. Independently prepares detailed and standardized project management plans and graphical data reports to track performance and assure timely completion and achievement of stated goals; presents information to all levels of leadership and medical staff as requested. Provides advanced Lean/Six Sigma and other appropriate improvement tools and training as needed to project team members and other identified stakeholders. Utilizes appropriate change models and incorporates High Reliability principles and universal skills for all process improvement and patient safety initiatives. Identify barriers to project success and solicits solutions from leadership and champions when needed. Assume other duties at the discretion of the Director, which may include chairing committees, and assisting with the development of new PI services, training, and program elements. Job Accountabilities Identifies ways to improve work processes and customer satisfaction; makes recommendations to supervisor, implements, and monitors results as appropriate in support of department and Parkland goals. Stays current with latest developments and trends in the field by attending seminars/workshops, reading professional journals, and maintaining certification or licensure; integrates knowledge into current practice. Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws and guidelines; develops internal controls to promote adherence to laws, accreditation requirements, and health plan regulations.
