Job Description The Environmental Business Line of AECOM is seeking a Hazardous Building Material/Industrial Hygiene Project Manager for immediate employment. This role combines technical project execution with business development and involves handling building hazardous material surveys, abatement oversight, and design and/or industrial hygiene projects.

This dual role requires a balance of technical expertise, project management skills, and business acumen to grow the business while delivering exceptional service to clients. Responsibilities include identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, developing client relationships, and securing contracts (both internally and externally).

Responsibilities

Managing and/or self-performing a wide range of hazardous building material and industrial hygiene projects for private and public-sector clients

Collaborating with licensed/certified professionals and technical/regulatory specialists on hazardous building material and industrial hygiene projects, including survey/investigation work, abatement/remediation design, and abatement/remediation

Providing technical and regulatory leadership for projects across New England, the US, and internationally

Developing proposals, including work scope, budgets, and schedules for hazardous material survey/design/abatement and other industrial hygiene projects

Managing or reviewing technical work and field activities to ensure alignment with scope, budget, schedule, and standards

Reviewing, coordinating, or preparing written reports, work plans, and technical memoranda; analyzing data and developing conclusions

Collaborating with other teams within the EHS department, Environment business line, and across AECOM

Proactively identifying opportunities to increase project efficiencies and client value

Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities and supporting department growth through internal and external sales

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:

BA/BS + 8 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency

Technical experience related to building hazardous materials (asbestos, lead paint, etc.)

Industrial hygiene, mold, or indoor air quality experience

40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training

EPA AHERA Asbestos Inspector Certification

New England State-specific licenses and certifications pertaining to asbestos (MA, ME, NH, CT) or eligibility to obtain

Valid Driver’s License and ability to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review

US citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications:

EPA Asbestos Management Planner, EPA Asbestos Project Designer, EPA Asbestos Supervisor, or EPA Lead Risk Assessor certifications

New England State Asbestos Designer licenses (MA, CT, ME)

Experience with strategy and growth plan development and execution

Certified Industrial Hygienist or Certified Safety Professional

Experience developing scope, fee, and terms for proposals for interdisciplinary teams

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities

Strong interaction with architects and engineers on renovation designs and asbestos/building hazardous materials program requirements

Experience mentoring a team of technical professionals and managing projects of various sizes

Experience building client relationships and managing business development

High proficiency in technical writing and organizational skills

Relocation is not available for this position

Willing to travel out of town for durations ranging from approximately one week to three months as needed

Offered compensation is location- and qualification-dependent. The expected range is $105,000.00 - $150,000.00.
