Christensen, Inc. Christensen, Inc. is a privately held, mid-market fuel, propane and lubricants distributor with operations in the western US. The Finance & Accounting Applications & Systems Team (FAAST) supports 15+ enterprise systems and the data flows between them. This role will establish and lead the master/reference data capability—owning the strategy, platforms, and processes that keep customer, vendor, product, account, and location data accurate, governed, and analytics-ready. The role sits at the intersection of data engineering and governance, designing APIs, data lakes, and pipelines while leading stewardship forums, policies, and change management to drive enterprise adoption. The position is strategic and tactical and supports the company\'s growth plans and M&A activities.

Responsibilities & Deliverables

Define and own the enterprise MDM strategy & roadmap across core data domains. Establish data governance frameworks including policies, standards, ownership models, stewardship councils, and issue management. Create and monitor KPIs for data quality, timeliness, and completeness; publish scorecards and drive continuous improvement. Design and build APIs and services to provision and synchronize master data across ERP, CRM (Salesforce), HRIS, procurement, and the enterprise data warehouse. Architect and implement data lakes/lakehouse patterns for curated master/reference datasets and golden records. Implement match/merge, survivorship, hierarchy management, and lineage with MDM tools or custom-built services. Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines (batch and streaming), automating deployments using CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code (IaC). Implement data quality rules, monitoring, and remediation workflows; lead root-cause analysis with system owners. Define and enforce metadata, lineage, and cataloging standards; partner with Security on access controls and compliance. Manage schema, API, and contract versioning; establish change management and deprecation paths. Stand up stewardship councils, RACI models, and issue triage routines. Develop and deliver training, playbooks, and communications to drive adoption across divisions. Partner with FAAST to align on intake processes, SLAs, and SharePoint documentation. Lead cutover planning and hypercare support for master data releases across Fleet, Commercial, and Wholesale Fuels. Collaborate with stakeholders, analysts, developers, and data engineers to deliver complete information solutions. Promote a culture of data and insights, seeking innovative solutions that improve outcomes for customers. Identify high-value opportunities and recommend projects to pursue. Work autonomously to develop scalable, robust, and automated solutions. Skills & Qualifications

Required Experience

7+ years in data engineering/architecture with 3+ years leading master/reference data programs at scale. Proven hands-on experience with API design/build (REST/GraphQL), schema versioning, and authentication/authorization patterns. Built and maintained data lakes/lakehouses and ingestion pipelines (files, CDC, streaming). Practical experience in data governance (policies, standards, stewardship, DQ rules, issue management). Strong change management record (training, communications, adoption, stakeholder alignment). Proficiency in SQL and one of: Python, Scala, or Java; comfortable with Git, CI/CD, and modern development practices. Preferred Experience

Expertise in MDM platforms such as Informatica MDM/IDMC, Reltio, Semarchy xDM, Profisee, or custom-built MDM services. Cloud & data stack familiarity: Azure (ADF/Synapse/Fabric), AWS (Glue/Lambda), GCP (BigQuery); Snowflake/Databricks, dbt, Kafka/Kinesis/EventHub. Experience with Salesforce data models (accounts, contacts, opportunities) and CRM/ERP integration patterns. Exposure to ServiceNow, metadata/catalog/lineage tools (Purview, Collibra, Alation), and DQ frameworks (Great Expectations, Deequ). Background in finance and sales operations data domains; understanding of chart of accounts and customer/vendor onboarding. Familiarity with DAMA-DMBOK, CDMP, or other industry frameworks/certifications. Physical & Mental Demands

Operates in a professional office environment. Regularly required to stand, walk, sit for long periods, talk, and hear. Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers, with the ability to reach with hands and arms.
