Energy Trader (FTR / Financial Transmission Rights) – Top Tier Hedge Fund, Houston
A global Tier One Hedge Fund is looking to add to their growing FTR Trading desk. The group trades all North American power markets, so are agnostic in terms of region covered and will look at all candidates in that respect.
The team has had excellent performance over the last few years, leading to the expansion of this desk. The firm offers excellent payout on book and a very collaborative environment that always looks to help Traders scale.
The team can leverage market‑leading internal infrastructure from an Execution and Research perspective and the firm offers an excellent formulaic book pay structure. The option to work remotely is available, or they have physical offices in Houston, NYC, and Miami.
Base pay range $150,000 – $300,000 per year

Key Responsibilities / Tasks
Play a critical role in managing the financial transmission rights portfolio and optimizing the positions in the electricity markets.
Ensure optimal utilization of transmission capacity to maximize trading opportunities and mitigate congestion risks.
Conduct thorough market analysis, including evaluating historical and real‑time data, identifying pricing patterns, and interpreting market trends to inform trading strategies.
Execute trades in financial transmission rights markets, adhering to company risk limits and profit targets while employing various hedging and arbitrage strategies.
Monitor and assess the performance of FTR positions and strategies, adjusting as necessary to optimize profitability and minimize risk.
Key Qualifications / Experience
Experience as a Power Trader or Senior Analyst focused on FTR Trading in energy markets.
Excellent understanding of electricity markets, transmission rights, congestion management, and power market dynamics.
Demonstrable track record of trading strategies and risk management in North American power markets.
Familiarity with energy trading platforms, market data providers, and trading systems.
