RATE RANGE:
$55/hr - $68/hr W2
DURATION:
12+ month contract or contract to hire

9/80 (every other Friday off)

JOB SUMMARY
JOB DESCRIPTION
As a Senior System Safety Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
Developing and implementing one or more MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs
Performing MIL-STD-882 System Safety Program tasks and analyses, involving management (task series 100), analysis (task series 200), evaluation (task series 300), and verification (task series 400).
Working across all integrated product teams and lines to properly eliminate hazards or provide effective controls.
Coordinating with customer safety representatives applying methods, standards, and techniques to provide clarification of system requirements to software, hardware, and test personnel to ensure design and architecture considerations are appropriately allocated to the system and horizontally integrated across the development teams.
Collaborating with Program Management and government approval authorities from program startup through production to demilitarization and disposal.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Performing System Safety planning, hazard analyses, and design analyses
Briefing safety considerations at technical reviews and as part of the safety approval process
Interpreting system requirements, customer specifications and military standards
Preparing internal and customer reports describing analyses relevant to the System Safety program
Collaborating across multiple disciplines to understand product architecture and design
Interfacing with other engineering functions: Systems Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Hardware Engineering
Managing System Safety Working Group(s) between employer and Customer representatives on site at the facility
REQUIREMENTS Typically Requires: Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and minimum 5 years of relevant experience. An advanced degree may account for additional years of experience as required for this position.
Experience with Safety Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical or Firmware Engineering.
PREFERRED SKILLS
Experience with DoD System Safety Programs e.g. MIL-STD-882 / DO-178
Experience with system and software safety implementation in Agile Development environment
Experience interfacing with Human Systems Integration showcasing execution of Human Factors Engineering tasks involving MIL-STD-1472
Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and Proposal Development
Familiarity with Engineering Change Proposals, Engineering Review Boards, System Safety Working Groups
EDUCATION REQUIRED Bachelor Degree Required
