Summary:
Our hydrology and hydraulics team collaborates with LJA project managers in our Land Development group to provide drainage analyses and design support for land development clients. The H&H group creates drainage studies that support design efforts, incorporating client needs with benefits like conservation, amenities, and effective land development planning.
Responsibilities include:
Assist in managing multiple H&H studies supporting Land Development Projects
Review project requirements and prepare models for analysis
Perform hydraulic calculations and guide technical support or drafting personnel
Investigate variables with supervisory assistance
Coordinate with internal clients to obtain necessary data
Make basic decisions on procedures when information is incomplete
Communicate effectively with all project personnel
Assist in preparing drainage impact analyses and FEMA Letters of Map Change requests
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering required
Engineer-in-Training certification recommended
2+ years experience in hydrologic/hydraulic analyses, FEMA Letters of Map Change, and conveyance analysis
Knowledge of HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, XP-SWMM, and GIS
Experience with advanced H&H modeling (e.g., HEC-RAS Unsteady, 2D modeling) is a plus
Experience in technical report writing
Strong relationship-building skills
