Construction Inspector

Hazen is seeking a Construction Inspector for water and sewer utilities projects located in Charlotte, NC, and surrounding region. The employee in this position will work with owners, contractors, third-party firms, and Hazen engineers to support the construction and commissioning of Hazen projects. Job Duties: Conduct on-site observation, monitoring, inspection, and evaluation of construction activities Review and interpret project specifications and drawings to verify contractor compliance therewith Review contractor performance and compliance with safety requirements Coordinate and communicate effectively with multi-discipline teams, consultants, owners, contractors, and third-party inspection/testing firms Prepare daily reports, verify material quantities, and review contractor pay applications Maintain construction related documentation Travel to various project sites within 2-hour drive of the Charlotte metro area Skills and Qualifications: Minimum 5 years of relevant field construction experience, preferably in the water/wastewater/utility industry B.S. degree in a Civil/Environmental Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Building/Construction Science, or an Associate Degree in Engineering Science is preferred Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Proficiency in computer software typically used (e.g., Microsoft Office, Procore, Primavera, etc.) Strong organizational and problem-solving skills Familiarity with construction methods typical of civil, structural, and mechanical engineering, and construction materials testing Capable of reviewing and implementing project design plans and technical specifications.
