Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY: The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) - Journey Traveler must be able to travel nationwide for 13-week assignments. The role involves traveling the country and working in various settings, organizing and providing speech-language services to facilitate rehabilitation. The SLP directs patient participation in selected tasks to restore, reinforce, and enhance performance, and facilitates the learning of communication and swallowing skills to diminish or remediate disorders. The SLP works within the scope of practice and ethical guidelines to promote health. Responsibilities/Accountabilities: Supervise CFYs, temporary licensees, students, and support personnel as permitted by licensure requirements and standards. Ensure effective and efficient delivery of rehab services; adhere to the plan of care, schedules, and timely documentation. Attend and contribute to patient care meetings and related conferences. Refer to other disciplines to meet comprehensive patient needs. Consult with rehabilitation team to select appropriate therapeutic regimens. Adapt program/plan of care based on patient needs. Promote a safe environment and enforce safety protocols. Order supplies and equipment as necessary; maintain and report equipment issues. Put patient service first, delivering high-quality, compassionate care.

Qualifications

Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Disorders, or a related field accepted by ASHA. Evidence of clinical competence and ability to perform comprehensive evaluations, develop goals, implement treatment plans, and document services. Licensure/Certification as required by state; ability to travel 13-week assignments nationwide. Experience with areas such as cognitive-communication, speech intelligibility, oral motor skills, swallowing disorders/dysphagia, perceptual abilities, orientation, memory, pragmatics, psychosocial communication, functional communication. Experience or training in FEES may be required for swallowing evaluations (if applicable). Ability to coordinate adaptive communication devices and refer for hearing assessments as needed.
