Aircraft Mechanic II About the Position This assignment is located at Creech AFB in Indian Springs, NV. Employee may support TDY deployments to various locations to support Predator-series UAS maintenance. Responsibilities include servicing, repairing, and overhauling aircraft, aircraft engines, and other critical components to ensure airworthiness. Permanent duties include repairing, replacing, and rebuilding aircraft structures, landing gear, power plants/trains, fuel systems, and functional components using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, rivet guns and drills. Inspect and repair power plant malfunctions, diagnose malfunctions, isolate causes and correct breaks; test engine operations with appropriate equipment. Remove and install engines and major components, disassemble and inspect parts for wear or defects, and reassemble and install engines. Adjust, repair, or replace instruments, avionics/navigation, ADP flight controls, electrical/electronic, fuel/oil systems and related aircraft accessories. Perform engine services and maintenance checks. May specialize in engine and structural component repair and modification. Recommend revisions to maintenance procedures to improve efficiency and quality. USAF equivalent position is Aircraft Mechanic Journeyman. Position reports to the Supervisor. Required Skills/Abilities
Must possess knowledge of technical publications related to weapons systems and ground support equipment Must know theory and principles of engine operations; accessories and components; basic theory of flight; rigging of flight controls; electrical, electronic, pneudraulic, and mechanical principles Must possess knowledge of sheet metal, composites, properties of materials, fuels, and oils Must be able to read, interpret, and use manufacturers and aircraft maintenance manuals, service bulletins, blueprints, wiring/schematic diagrams, data tables and other specifications Must be able to inspect, repair, and operate ground support and auxiliary equipment Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English Must be able to provide proof of U.S. citizenship upon hire Must submit updated SF-86 within 30 days of hire start date Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and be able to operate a government general-purpose vehicle Must be eligible to gain and maintain a DoD security clearance commensurate with duties The company may provide a training class on RPA maintenance in Las Vegas, NV or similar location Students must achieve a passing grade in all courses for continued employment Additional on-the-job training may be required after initial training Duties/Responsibilities
Work with other A&P/ISR Mechanics and technical representatives to troubleshoot, diagnose, and solve maintenance problems Support aircraft maintenance safety programs and assist the Safety Committee; use test equipment for analysis of airframes, engines, flight controls, pneudraulic, fuel, electrical/electronic systems Support utilization and maintenance activity schedules; maintain accurate parts inventory; perform maintenance and repair tasks and ensure completion Service, repair, and overhaul aircraft equipment, engines, and sub-systems to ensure serviceability; repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft structures, landing gear, power plants, fuel systems, and components using tools Inspect and repair engine malfunctions; diagnose and test engine operations; replace/repair damaged components Remove engine and major components; disassemble, inspect, repair/replace components, and reinstall engines Adjust, repair, or replace instruments, avionics/navigation, flight control, electrical/electronic, fuel/oil systems and related aircraft accessories; perform engine washes and maintenance checks May service engines and airframe components at flight line operations; may specialize in repairs and modifications Recommend maintenance procedure revisions to improve efficiency and workmanship Perform other position-related duties as assigned Education and Experience
Must have a high school diploma or completed relevant military/vocational curriculum Minimum of three-to-five years experience as an aircraft mechanic Current DoD Security Clearance Associate’s degree in a relevant field (preferred) Minimum 3 years experience on RPA aircraft FAA license as Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic RPA operations experience Prior experience as a Defense Contractor Knowledge of service, repair, and overhaul of aircraft and components to ensure airworthiness USAF Munitions/Weapons Tech School/DoD equivalent (if required) Job Type: Full-time, Hourly Work Location: Creech AFB, NV Benefits
