$72,737.60 - $112,028.80

Engineer II:

$77,105.60 - $118,768.00

Engineer III:

$91,811.20 - $147,804.80

Engineer IV:

$103,168.00 - $180,523.20

Engineer V:

$115,960.00 - $202,904.00

Typically, selected candidates are hired at a salary rate between the minimum and midpoint of the range.

Position Summary:

Be part of an Electrical Engineering team responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining electrical equipment within Grant County PUD’s Priest Rapids and Wanapum Hydro Power Generation Facilities. This position provides knowledge and expertise in the discipline related to Wanapum and Priest Rapids Hydro Dams, 230kV Switchyard and other Supporting Facilities. Depending on experience, candidates may be hired at Engineer I through V.

Essential Functions Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties. This is not a comprehensive list and may change as needed.

Across all levels, engineers will gain experience on equipment including High/Medium/Low Voltage Distribution systems, PLC/VFD and Control Systems, Exiters, Governors, Generator Systems, Transformers (Distribution and GSU), SCADA Systems, Protective Relay Equipment, High/Medium/Low Voltage Circuit Breakers, Battery Systems, Bridge Cranes, Motor Control Centers, and other supporting equipment for safe and reliable operation of Generators and related systems.

Engineer I

Develop and implement low impact Electrical Projects throughout Wanapum and Priest Rapids Hydro Power Generation Facilities and Supporting facilities.

Research, design and support the implementation of new and upgraded equipment with guidance from supervisor and peers.

Build technical knowledge from Engineers, Electricians, Operators or other departments regarding troubleshooting, outages, and detailed design of equipment.

Gain knowledge of industry practices, Utility Standards, Codes or other Legal Standards required for safe operation.

Knowledge, skills & abilities may include: Generators, Exciters, Governors; Switchgear and MCCs; PLCs/VFDs; PID controls; programming in Ladder Logic, C++, Structured Text, Block Logic, Visual Basic; technical writing; and drawing generation/revision.

Engineer II

Develop and implement low impact Electrical Projects with guidance from supervisor and peers.

Project management support including budget forecasts, scheduling, and coordination for small projects.

Provide technical knowledge to aid troubleshooting and detailed design.

Knowledge, skills & abilities may include: High/Medium Voltage Transmission and Distribution Equipment; Switchgear/MCCs; PLC/VFD; PID controls; programming; technical writing; drawing preparation.

Engineer III

Develop and implement low/medium impact Electrical Projects including 230kV Switchyard and Supporting facilities.

Moderate guidance for new/upgraded equipment; moderate project management for medium-sized projects.

Provide technical knowledge for troubleshooting and detailed design; understand impacts to FERC, NERC and CIP compliance.

Knowledge, skills & abilities may include: Generators, Exciters, Governors; High/Medium Voltage systems; PLC/Control systems; PID controls; data communications and standards compliance.

Engineer IV

High-level contributor responsible for medium/high impact Electrical Projects; minimal guidance.

Lead complex engineering on critical equipment; develop technical specifications and standards; ensure compliance with regulatory standards (FERC/NERC/CIP).

Possess expert level in multiple areas and act as main engineering support in Protection & Automation, Controls & Automations, or Power & Distribution.

Knowledge, skills & abilities may include: advanced PLC/VFD, protection relays, data networks, and drawing generation.

Engineer V

High-performing contributor for medium/high impact projects; subject matter expert in key electrical areas.

Lead and mentor; minimal supervisor guidance; client-facing project management for large initiatives.

Own technical specifications, standards, and compliance with FERC/NERC; advanced knowledge across generation and distribution systems.

Subject matter expertise in at least one area (Protection & Automation, Controls & Automations, or Power & Distribution).

Commitment and Safety

Adhere to Vehicle/Asset Usage Policy for GPUD vehicles where applicable.

Demonstrate commitment to Grant PUD’s mission, values, and strategic plan; comply with applicable laws, policies and procedures.

Participate in safety program; follow safety policies; report hazards and incidents promptly.

Other Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Knowledge of NERC standards and regulations; familiarity with NEC, IEEE, NFPA standards.

Ability to work in field and industrial environments; problem-solving and time management skills.

Proficiency with MS Office and relevant software/tools; strong written and verbal communication.

Physical Requirements

Hybrid work arrangement may be available.

Office work with some field work; typical shifts may be 8, 9, or 10 hours; refer to Physical Capacity Evaluation (PCE).
