Exciting opportunity for a Senior Electrical Engineer to be part of a global engineering team, working on products related to sensing, actuation, control and monitoring. The position requires concept generation, design & development, testing, and production launch activities in support of Barksdale’s actuation and sensing product line. In addition, the position requires project management of external product development by engineering firms. The Sr. engineer is also responsible for execution of design-related initiatives to reduce product cost while maintaining form, fit and function.

Principle Responsibilities

New product development:

Lead end to end design of instrumentation and control products (such as Transducers/Transmitters, and electronic switches) from concept to successful launch, meeting delivery schedule, cost and quality requirements, in line with a structured stage gate process Architectural design: develop architectural options to meet the concept/market needs Prototype development: Develop sub-system and system level prototypes across hardware, firmware and software modules Integration: Ensure that the packaging of the electronics components is in accordance with the mechanical design, resulting in a functional system Testing & troubleshooting: Diagnose hardware/software issues through lab testing and conduct thorough functional testing to meet specifications and certification requirements Validation Testing: Plan and perform EMC, Climatic, Vibration, Shock, functional, qualification and validation tests Agency Certification: Plan and perform testing for hazardous locations eg. Explosion proof , Intrinsic safety etc.

Sustaining Engineering

Lead engineering development of simple as well as complex modification projects Develop new ideas and concepts for value engineering and productivity Estimate and plan costs and time to design and manufacture a product design Engage with a sense of urgency in addressing customer quality issues Support production floor with product structure and technical specific inquiries Develop and validate design solutions to meet customer applications

Leadership:

Lead project team for a complete project, which generally involves directing the work of others and closely working with engineering resources in Germany and/or India design centers.

Communication:

Interface as required with other disciplines including operations, quality assurance, purchasing to resolve problems and achieve required objectives. Communicate effectively with Project and Principal Engineers, senior management, vendors, certification agencies and customers both orally and in writing

CRITICAL FACTORS FOR SUCCESS

Hands-on Experience in analog and digital circuit design (Op-Amps, Filters, SPICE simulation) Working knowledge of PCB Design tools (Altium, Eagle or equivalent) Experience in embedded C programming and microcontroller specific IDE Knowledge and experience in designing ultra-low power mixed signal electronics preferably industrial automation equipment, valve controllers and transmitters Experience in EMI/EMC and hazardous location compliance testing and certifications Experience in Design for manufacturing (DFM), FMEAs, DVP&R and 8D

Professional Experience / Skills & Qualifications

4+ years of professional experience in electromechanical/mechatronics systems design and development BS/MS in Electrical/Electronic Engineering Working knowledge of sensing technologies and signal conditioning electronics Working experience of Embedded designs (microcontroller, RAM, EEPROM), analog circuit design (OP-Amps, Filters, SPICE simulation), digital circuit design, signal conversion and filtering, Crystal oscillator circuits, UART circuits, LED/LCD and key pads, Timing constraints, signal quality analysis and frequency response. Working Experience in Hazardous locations certifications Worked with oscilloscopes, power supplies, logic analyzers, debuggers and/or emulation tools Preferred working knowledge of communication protocols – CAN,BLE, I2C, SPI, etc Knowledge of QAD or equivalent ERP/MRP system required

Salary range: $137,000 to $152,000 with 5% bonus potential. Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications. Compensation packages also include comprehensive benefits, 401K contribution and match, Paid Time Off, paid holidays, tuition reimbursement and more. Some roles may be eligible for participation in performance-based bonus programs
