Job Summary: We are a dynamic company specializing in military UAV systems, developing advanced technology for various applications. We seek a Sr. Drone Controls Engineer to develop and implement precision flight control and payload pointing algorithms for small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS), working on projects for the Department of Defense. Primary Duties & Responsibilities: Develop and improve flight control and payload pointing algorithms Analyze algorithm performance using data plotting and analysis tools Participate in root cause investigations related to drone systems Interface with sensors such as cameras, laser range finders, IMU, GPS, magnetometers Work on projects using C, C++, Matlab, and Python in Linux environments Perform embedded software tasks in C and C++ Investigate and address weak points and corner cases in algorithms for robust drone flight control Work with Pixhawk-based flight control systems Job Qualifications: Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or related field (strongly preferred) 8+ years’ experience with complex robotic systems or related industries 3+ years’ experience developing algorithms for robotics or drones (e.g., Kalman filtering) Strong expertise in C, C++, embedded systems, Linux Experience with feedback and control systems, including gain tuning Experience with PX4 autopilot highly desired Experience interfacing with external devices and sensors desired Willingness to travel to test sites using a company vehicle (clean driving record required) Applicants must be U.S. citizens, nationals, legal residents, asylees, or refugees, or eligible to obtain export control licenses from U.S. agencies. #FLIR Teledyne and its employees are committed to high ethical standards.
