How You Will Make An Impact
As a Product Development Engineer, you will lead the design and development of new coil products—including evaporative, adiabatic, hybrid fluid coolers, condensers, and evaporators—while supporting R&D initiatives and value engineering efforts. You will create sound, manufacturable design solutions using 3D modeling and thermal-fluid system expertise, coordinate cross-functional efforts with sourcing and manufacturing, and ensure compliance with industry codes and performance standards. This role drives product innovation, standardization, and cost efficiency while ensuring on-time project delivery and continuous product improvement. The role supports innovation and continuous improvement in technical support, monitors advances in technology and competition, and supports global and acquisition-related technical issues in areas of expertise. What You Can Expect In This Role
Lead Design and Development of Heat Transfer Products Design HVAC&R coils and heat exchangers in compliance with industry codes and structural standards Perform design calculations, structural integrity evaluations, and manufacturability checks Develop complete engineering packages including drawings, BOMs, and specifications Manage Product Development and Value Engineering Projects Execute NPD and VA/VE initiatives from concept through delivery, ensuring timeline and budget adherence Create project overviews, schedules, and plans aligned with product and business objectives Support standardization and cost-reduction through innovative design improvements Collaborate with Manufacturing and Sourcing Teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective Conduct technical bid evaluations, assist with vendor selection, and expedite critical components Support implementation of new coil technologies and rapid prototyping using solid modeling tools Provide Technical Leadership and Support by leading projects and serving as a key engineering contact for internal teams and external customers Troubleshoot performance issues, manage engineering documentation, and support continuous improvement Represent the company in technical discussions and industry forums What We Are Looking For (Required/Ideal Experience, Skills, Education)
We are looking for someone who has: Required Experience
3-5 years of relevant experience Experience with solids-based CAD/CAM software Knowledge and experience with codes in the HVAC&R industry, including but not limited to: Pressure vessel and piping codes (ASME BPVC Section VIII, ASME BPVC Section IX, ASME B31.5); Refrigeration systems safety standards (UL 207, UL 60334-2-40, ASHRAE 15); IIAR Ammonia and CO2 standards; Certification and Regulation: AHRI 420, California Title 24 Solid theoretical knowledge and sound engineering judgment; track record of developing from concept to viable real-world solutions Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Intermediate knowledge in electrical and controls or structural FEA analysis, highly preferred Knowledge of HVAC&R systems and components, particularly condensers and evaporators Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and construction practices Knowledge and experience in coil design and manufacturing Participation in industry committees and/or associations Knowledge and field experiences (design and build, application, operation, and trouble-shooting) Project management experience Proficiency in CFD, AutoCAD, and 3D modeling software Proficiency in FEA software Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint Proficiency in Access, MS Project, and SAP desired Leadership ability; ability to persuade and influence as needed Education & Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Civil Engineering, required Master’s degree, preferred Travel & Working Environment
Onsite office environment, Monday – Friday; Hybrid work schedule available after satisfactory completion of probation May work outside and be exposed to excessive noise, heat, or weather May need to work at heights, climb ladders, and work from elevated platforms during inspections and commissioning Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds Ability to read effectively from a computer screen and/or paper copy Ability to handle a large volume of work in a fast-paced environment Ability to communicate effectively verbally How We Live Our Culture
