Overview
Whatcom County's Prosecuting Attorney's Office is recruiting for a Victim Witness Coordinator. The office enhances quality of life and leads fair prosecution and progressive prevention initiatives. We embrace diversity and build an inclusive culture.
Responsibilities
Provide excellent support to Whatcom County’s Victim/Witness Assistant Unit.
Work independently with minimal supervision in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
Communicate the legal process and advocate for victims and/or witnesses of crimes.
Provide victim/witness notification, guidance and information about the legal and restitution processes.
Answer questions pertaining to departmental functions and provide information about appropriate community resources for counseling, health and protective services, and Crime Victim’s Compensation.
Qualifications Minimum education and experience requirements:
High School diploma or GED AND 5 years of progressively responsible experience providing system or community-based advocacy services.
Associate’s degree in human services, Criminal Justice or a closely related field AND 3 years of progressively responsible experience providing system or community-based advocacy services.
Bachelor’s degree in human services, Criminal Justice or a closely related field AND 1 year of progressively responsible experience providing system or community-based advocacy services.
Additional Requirements:
Certification for 40 hours of Core Advocacy Training preferred.
Must be able to type accurately and proficiently with a speed of 60 net words per minute.
Must have a background check that meets County criteria and CJIS security.
Must have a driving record that meets County standards and possess a valid driver's license at time of hire and throughout employment.
Required to complete advocacy certification at the next available Washington State Victim Assistance Academy after hiring, if certification has not already been attained provided funding is available.
At its sole discretion, Whatcom County may consider combinations of education, experience, certifications, and training in lieu of specifically required qualifications contained herein.

Salary Range:
$27.92 - $40.25
