System Engineer - Industrial Controls

Essential Functions & Responsibilities: Provide industrial and commercial control systems engineering services for ISI customers, including SCADA Systems, PLC Programming, CAD Drawings, Industrial Networking, Systems Calibration, and other duties as assigned. Support Instrument Technicians in the field with issues related to interfacing field devices to DCS & SCADA systems, testing, and technical support. Collaborate with other System Engineers to resolve project backlogs while maintaining excellent customer relationships. Support other projects within the local service area and throughout the ISI footprint as needed. Report job activities and maintain detailed logs of service calls, parts, and orders. Identify opportunities for system upgrades at customer facilities. Travel using company vehicle to and from job sites, practicing defensive driving to uphold the company's reputation. Essential Mental Functions: Strong background in electrical/electronic engineering, process instrumentation, and process engineering. Self-motivated, self-driven, and capable of self-management. High energy, technical competence, resourcefulness, and extreme attention to detail. Proficient in computer skills including: Microsoft Visual Basic and other programming software AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, or similar CAD software Understanding of network structures and protocols Programming in multiple languages and scripting Basic familiarity with radio communications and protocols. Strong understanding of industrial and process controls, PID loops, pump control, instrument calibration, and repairs. Knowledge of analog current loops (4-20mA, 1-5Vdc) and their conversion to PLC counts. Strong electrical knowledge and understanding of the National Electrical Code. Familiarity with equipment like hand tools, volt-ohm meters, power tools, and instrument loops. *Note: On-the-job training will be provided for skills not possessed at hire; willingness to learn and teach others is required. Essential Physical Functions/Equipment Used: Ability to lift objects up to 75 lbs. Ability to stand, kneel, walk for extended periods. Ability to climb ladders and stairs. Availability for occasional call-ins and overnight travel for service and training. Work indoors and outdoors, exposed to weather, equipment, and potential hazards. Ability to travel nationally as required. Preferred Education/Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering (BSEE/BSEET/ASEE) with PLC programming required; Master’s degree preferred. 1-3+ years of PLC programming experience (Allen Bradley, Automation Direct, MOSCAD, etc.) required; process/flow control experience desired. 1-3+ years of experience with HMI software (Wonderware, VTSCADA, Lookout, etc.) required. Strong computer proficiency in operating electronic and microcomputer instruments for measuring and controlling variables. Clean driving record required.
