As a Labeling and Regulatory Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the development, packaging, and labeling of both new and existing products. Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance:
Submit label approvals to the USDA and ensure all products meet regulatory requirements. Maintain and update USDA label documentation as needed. Stay current with USDA and FDA regulations to ensure ongoing compliance. Manage timelines for temporary approvals to ensure compliance before expiration.
Packaging Management:
Maintain and update the pallet pattern book for case-up operations. Source and evaluate packaging solutions for new products, focusing on cost savings and efficiency. Proofread printed packaging materials for accuracy and regulatory compliance. Monitor packaging changes and coordinate transitions to updated prints.
Cross-Department Coordination:
Communicate regularly with procurement and purchasing teams regarding upcoming packaging transitions. Facilitate the rollout of new packaging needs and ensure all relevant personnel are informed of changes to products.
Nutritional and Ingredient Statements:
Assist the Sales Department in preparing and updating nutrition and ingredient statements for new and existing products.
Data and Document Management:
Keep procurement updated on planned packaging changes and approval status. Help manage transition plans from old to new packaging formats and assist with inventory drawdown strategies. Maintain and update prep verification records and EZ Form documentation for ingredient changes. Oversee the TraceGains platform by uploading and managing required documents, including ingredient documentation. Utilize Genesis nutritional software and EZ Label software for compliance and documentation purposes.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Food Tech or Food Science preferred. Strong understanding of USDA and FDA regulations related to food labeling and packaging. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks with strong attention to detail. Experience in procurement and vendor coordination is a plus. Proficiency with document management platforms and relevant software (e.g., TraceGains, Genesis nutritional software, EZ Label software) is beneficial.
