Certified Medical Laboratory Technicians/Clinical Laboratory Technicians (MLT/CLT) will provide diagnostic testing services to The Central Texas Veterans Healthcare System in Temple, Texas. Must possess comprehensive knowledge of professional Medical Laboratory Technician principles, practices, concepts, and theories providing for sound independent work. The Central Texas Veterans Healthcare System is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician/Clinical Laboratory Technician (MLT/CLT) to provide diagnostic testing services. Specific Requirements
Medical Laboratory Technician/Clinical Laboratory Technician (MLT/CLT): Technician must have a 2-year Associates in Applied Science Degree Technician must have a minimum of two (2) years of laboratory experience Technician must be American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP), or American Medical Technologists (AMT) certified as a Medical Laboratory Technician/Clinical Laboratory Technician. Compensation
$27.72 per hour plus an additional $4.57 per hour for Health and Welfare Responsibilities
Is expected to use independent technical judgment to analyze and interpret laboratory results Will perform, evaluate, interpret, correlate, and validate the accuracy of laboratory procedures and results Requires a broad exercise of independent judgment and responsibility with minimal technical supervision Will be required to monitor quality control systems and measures Requires the ability to interpret and apply complex written instructions Must utilize basic knowledge of laboratory equipment and be able to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair instrumentation May need to resolve problems encountered in the laboratory Must be able to communicate, consult, and interact with other members of the healthcare team, external relations, customer service, and patient education Duties Include But Are Not Limited To
Will perform a broad range of laboratory procedures, including advanced and complex laboratory procedures. Must be able to recognize deviation from expected results and use scientific principles to analyze and correct problems Evaluate and solve problems related to collection and processing of biological specimens for analysis accounting for physiologic processes and requirements Maintain and document the optimal functioning of laboratory equipment. Use, calibrate, and identify malfunctions; repair and perform preventive maintenance of laboratory equipment Troubleshoot issues with laboratory instruments and resolve problems. Diagnose deviations in test performance due to instrument malfunction Perform and document quality control and quality assurance activities and corrective actions related to test performance using statistical principles and theories of performance improvement Identify discrepancies, solve problems, and present solutions Answer inquiries regarding test results, methodology, test specificity, test sensitivity, and specific factors that influence test results. Interpret results and suggest followup test selection or procedures Must meet all acceptable quality and productivity standards as defined by Chief, PandLMS or designee Other duties as assigned Experience On The Following Analyzers Is Preferred
