Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant (PA-C) to join our dynamic surgical team in Texarkana, TX. This advanced practice provider will work closely with cardiothoracic surgeons and the surgical team to provide perioperative care with a focus on first assisting in the OR and endoscopic or open vein harvesting. Serve as first assist in cardiothoracic surgical procedures, including CABG and valve surgeries Perform vein harvesting using endoscopic or open techniques Manage pre- and post-operative care in collaboration with the cardiothoracic surgery team Conduct patient assessments, order and interpret diagnostic studies, and develop treatment plans Round on post-op patients in the ICU and on the floor Educate patients and families regarding surgical procedures, recovery expectations, and discharge plans Document care and procedures accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR) Participate in call coverage as scheduled Required Qualifications
Current Physician Assistant license in the state of Texas NCCPA certification required Minimum of 2 years of experience in cardiothoracic surgery with demonstrated proficiency in first assist and vein harvesting BLS and ACLS certifications required Strong clinical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in high-acuity settings Excellent communication and teamwork abilities Schedule & Compensation
