Summary
Position Highlights:
Under the broad direction of the MRI Supervisor, preceptor, Radiologist, and the Manager of Diagnostic Imaging, the MRI technologist shall perform procedures on selected anatomy as requested by the clinician on patients in the following age groups: adolescence (12-19 years), adults (20-65 years), and geriatric adults (65 and older). The technologist is expected to perform a variety of procedures with the knowledge and ability to apply the proper scan protocols needed to visualize the anatomy in question.
Must be able to work scheduled hours, including weekends and "ON CALL" hours at multiple locations, if applicable.
Must be able to rotate through multiple locations, when needed.
Responsibilities:
Perform all MRI exams and procedures following standard protocols and positioning guidelines under the supervision of a preceptor.
Demonstrate knowledge of all radiology principles, procedure protocols, and imaging techniques related to the MRI scanner and department operations.
Maintain a complete working knowledge of MRI equipment, scanner table, control panel, coil management, and safety principles.
Start IVs and administer contrast based on department protocols.
Be aware of MRI-related policies, including magnet safety, quenching procedures, patient safety, cleaning policies, and emergency protocols.
Documentation:
Gather complete documentation of all pertinent information to provide accurate and timely service, including consent forms, injection documentation, release forms, progress notes, MRI patient screening forms, and patient histories, under the supervision of a preceptor.
Risk Management:
Ensure personal and patient safety by following written standards and using professional judgment to prevent injuries.
Apply safety techniques during examinations in accordance with MRI and departmental policies.
Credentials and Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED required.
ARRT certification in MRI required.
At least one (1) year of MRI experience in a hospital setting.
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate’s degree in Allied Health or Radiology.
Two (2) years of MRI experience in a hospital setting preferred.
