Importation & Supply Chain Logistics Specialist
Our client, a well-established chemical manufacturer, is seeking an experienced Import/Export Specialist to join their growing logistics team. This position plays a key role in managing international shipments, ensuring compliance with trade regulations, and coordinating with freight forwarders, suppliers, and internal departments to keep global operations running smoothly.
Base pay range $60,000.00/yr - $80,000.00/yr
Key Responsibilities
Manage end-to-end import/export logistics, including ISF submissions, order processing, shipping, and documentation
Prepare and review international shipping paperwork (invoices, packing slips, certificates of origin, etc.)
Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs, international trade laws, and HazMat regulations (DOT, IATA, IMDG)
Liaise with freight forwarders, carriers, and customs brokers to schedule shipments, negotiate rates, and track deliveries
Coordinate with internal teams in Purchasing, Customer Care, and Sales to provide status updates and resolve shipment issues
Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost savings, and enhanced compliance across global operations
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in freight forwarding, import/export administration, or international logistics
Knowledge of customs documentation, Incoterms, and global shipping procedures
HazMat / Dangerous Goods certification preferred (or working knowledge of DOT, IATA, IMDG requirements)
Degree in Supply Chain Management, International Business, or related field preferred
Proficiency in ERP systems, Microsoft Office, and shipment tracking tools
