and Requirements Job Summary

The Gallery Manager furthers the advancement of Fine Craft artists in Florida and beyond by leading the operation of Florida CraftArt’s retail gallery and exhibition space. They supervise the gallery team, ensure the commercial success of the gallery and its artists, engage the community in innovative arts programming, and strive for artistic excellence. Responsibilities

Supervise gallery staff. Hire, train, and supervise full-time Assistant Gallery Manager (AGM), part-time Gallery Assistants, and on-call contractors. Maintain staff schedule, ensuring gallery coverage during weekly hours, absences, call-outs, special events, and around holidays. Support AGM in volunteer scheduling, training, and engagement. Oversee retail gallery operations. Operate and troubleshoot point-of-sales system. Collaborate with AGM to manage consignment inventory, including receiving, backstock/storage, restocking, and returning aging inventory. Communicate with retail gallery artists about restock needs, product issues, and artwork drop-off/pick-up appointments. Solicit seasonal merchandise. Organize and report monthly sales commissions to Bookkeeper and consignors. Track monthly sales to ensure alignment with annual sales projections. Report monthly sales and attendance statistics to Bookkeeper and Board. Stock supplies needed for artwork installation, displays, packaging, and shipping. Promote retail sales strategies. Lead gallery team in person-to-person customer service and sales strategies. Merchandise retail space by creating innovative rotating and seasonal displays. Build relationships with top collectors. Facilitate custom orders with artists on behalf of customers. Oversee exhibition program. Collaborate with CEO to create a diverse and engaging annual exhibition program. Lead gallery team in installing innovative exhibitions that reflect artistic excellence. Create exhibition preparation timeline and stay on task throughout year. Generate and manage open-call exhibition applications in CallforEntry.org. Research and engage outside curators, jurors, and judges. Facilitate curated/juried exhibitions. Curate/co-curate exhibitions, if desired. Communicate with artists during application process and pre-/post-exhibition. Collect and organize necessary paperwork, tracking progress in Excel. Ensure artwork is returned to artists in a timely manner. Conceive and carry out engaging community events to broaden impact. Artist recruitment and guidance. Research and recruit new artists for retail gallery and exhibitions. Attend exhibitions and other regional art events to meet new artists. Lead committee to jury in new retail gallery artists (three times/year). Provide guidance for retail gallery artists on pricing, marketability, etc. Provide constructive feedback to declined artists (i.e. why their work wasn’t accepted). Support Emerging Artist Program in collaboration with CEO. Art handling. Receive and safely store retail gallery and exhibition artwork. Hang/display 2D and 3D artwork of all media. Securely pack and ship artwork in a wide range of sizes, media, and fragility. Marketing. Design and produce exhibition graphics and signage. Update retail gallery and exhibition pages on website. Collaborate with AGM to generate engaging social media content. Administration. Generate monthly Board reports for retail gallery and exhibition updates. Generate annual gallery and exhibition budget in collaboration with CEO. Generate and collect artist/curator contracts and other documents. Additional tasks as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer. Qualifications and Skills

Retail sales experience required, in a management role preferred. Education and/or professional experience in visual arts preferred. Creative vision and the proactive work style required to carry it out. Ability to prioritize and multitask a wide range of duties. Strong organizational and leadership skills. Excellent interpersonal oral and written communication skills. Social media and graphic design abilities. Art handling experience. Strong computer skills, including using spreadsheets and databases. Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, climb ladders, and operate basic power tools. Ability to work occasional nights and weekends for special events. Ability to stand for 8 hours. Schedule

Mondays-Fridays, 9:45am-5:45pm Participation in Second Saturday ArtWalk (5:00-9:00pm) during special events 40 hours per week Salary and Benefits

$42,000 — $50,000 annually commensurate with experience Paid time off and holidays Health insurance stipend ($4,200/year, distributed monthly) How To Apply
