Build Nashville is seeking a detail-driven Senior Estimating & Procurement Specialist to join our award-winning team. In this dual role, you will ensure project budgets are accurate, costs are well-tracked, and materials are sourced at the best value without sacrificing quality. Key Responsibilities
Estimating
Prepare accurate cost estimates for new builds and change orders.
Review architectural and design plans to quantify materials, labor, and subcontractor costs.
Collaborate with Project Managers and Superintendents to align budgets with schedules.
Track variances between estimates and actual project costs, reporting updates to leadership.
Maintain cost databases, historical project data, and standardized cost codes.
Support invoice review and approval by cost coding invoices as needed.
Purchasing
Source, negotiate, and manage relationships with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Obtain and analyze bids, recommending cost-effective purchasing decisions.
Issue purchase orders and track material deliveries to ensure timely arrival.
Forecast material needs with project teams to prevent delays.
Ensure procurement aligns with company quality, cost, and timeliness standards.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with accounting and project management for budget reporting.
Work with design and client services to validate selections against budgets.
Support the VP of Construction with cost-control strategies and efficiency evaluations.
Qualifications
1+ year of experience in residential construction estimating and/or purchasing (luxury home experience preferred).
Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and vendor markets in Middle Tennessee.
Proficiency with construction management and accounting software (BuilderTrend or JobTread preferred).
Strong analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills with attention to detail.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills with vendors, subcontractors, and clients.
Proactive, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple deadlines.
High school diploma or GED required; additional education in construction management or business preferred.
