Overview

ISDA are actively recruiting an information architect to help lead and extend the traditional scope of the ISDA FpML data standard. The role focuses on ensuring that FpML is maintained, addressing member issues, and running relevant working sessions for the FpML community under the guidance of the Director, Data Standards. The information architect will contribute to new CDM technical capabilities and features, and raise awareness of the benefits that FpML can bring to other initiatives within the ISDA digital ecosystem. The ideal candidate will have experience developing financial data exchange standards, with industry experience in FpML or other financial XML schemas, and a solid understanding of OTC derivatives products and financial trading platforms. This is a high-profile, front-of-house position with the opportunity to work with a variety of industry experts.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage industry working groups, including developing and presenting technical proposals

Support the development of the FpML standard, including schema design and development

Contribute to the publication of FpML specifications and associated documentation as part of the FpML area

Provide technical support and answer queries from the ISDA membership and FpML community

Translate legal and market infrastructure business requirements into technical specifications (from ISDA Legal & Derivative Product & Infrastructure teams)

Maintain FpML coding schemes and ISDA reference data

Teach FpML through ISDA training courses and conferences

Participate in ISDA’s Digital Strategy initiatives, including MyLibrary and ISDA CDM/DRR, to generate greater cohesion and synergy where possible

Skills And Experience

5 years of Information Architecture. Proficiency with XML, schema development, XML editing and modeling tools (oXygen, XML Spy)

Ideally but not mandatory: 5 years of experience with Financial Product Markup Language (FpML), or in-house financial XML schemas

Experience with OTC derivatives products in one or more asset classes (e.g., Interest Rates, Equity, Commodities, FX, Credit)

Experience with industry standards including FpML, FIX, ISO 20022 is a plus

Experience, knowledge, and an interest in ISDA CDM and DRR would be advantageous

Excellent written and oral communication skills; the candidate will run industry meetings, prepare agendas and materials, and write meeting minutes

Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail

Strong business analysis skills with the ability to understand, capture, document, and translate business requirements into technical specifications

Scripting tools development (batch files), SVN, Git, or similar version control systems

Exposure to and familiarity with XSLT and/or XQuery would be highly desirable

Some exposure to RESTful APIs would be helpful

Ability to influence without authority and interact credibly with all levels of the organization, internally and externally with members and stakeholders
