Our services include 100% affordable housing at 21 locations, family violence services, Holocaust survivor assistance, geriatric social work, crisis intervention and the largest free kosher food distribution program in the world. Our network of 120 food pantries, affordable housing sites, and JCCs provide services directly in neighborhoods across New York City.

Position Summary

The Assistant Director, Geriatric Programs will support the Director of Geriatric Programs to effectively lead the geriatrics team in the provision of high-quality, person-centered services that promote safety, independence, and quality of life for older adults. This role encompasses program implementation, staff supervision, direct service, and coordination of the MSW internship program. This position is also responsible for the development, implementation, and management of the MSW Intern program at Met Council.

Duties And Responsibilities

Assist the Director of Geriatric Programs in the strategic planning, implementation, and development of geriatric programs including crisis support, elder abuse prevention, and social services for older adults. Provide direct supervision and support to program staff, ensuring a collaborative culture aligned with program values. Coordinate staff trainings to facilitate professional development. Analyze program metrics to monitor program effectiveness, identify trends, improve program outcomes. Identify and implement efficiencies around data collection, documentation, and service tracking. Collaborate with providers and community partners to ensure integrated and holistic care for clients. Conduct outreach to the community and clients. Provide direct services including intakes, assessments, home visits, and services in support of client needs. Documentation of services and case notes in Salesforce database in accordance with guidelines set by the Social Services Department. Participate in task forces and other similar groups and represent the agency at these meetings. Support with grant initiatives and reporting. Manage the MSW Intern program to include regular group supervision and field instructor meetings. Assist in the interviewing and selection of appropriate MSW interns. Communicate with the schools both for outreach and about MSW related issues. Demonstrate cultural sensitivity especially to insular, religious, immigrant, and minority groups. Additional responsibilities as required.

Competencies

Professional knowledge and expertise with older adult services. Knowledge of person-centered-trauma-informed care and older adult services/resources. Warm, empathic communication style with the ability to build trust with staff and clients. Excellent communication and clarity of both leadership and direct services role. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Comfort using online technologies and database systems daily.

Skill And Education Required

LMSW or LCSW, must have SIFI certification (required). Relevant experience in program supervision or management, preferably in human services. Language Skills: Bi-lingual Russian, Hebrew, or Spanish (preferred). Familiarity with the Jewish community or a willingness to learn.

Special Requirements

This position requires a willingness to travel throughout the five boroughs of New York City by public transportation for outreach and provision of direct client services, though the primary location will be in the Financial District of Manhattan.

Compensation:

$75,000 - $85,000 per year.
