Description
The City of Wentzville is seeking a dynamic and experienced Recreation Supervisor to oversee all on‑ice operations and programming at our year‑round ice facility. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of ice quality, customer service, and fiscal management. The Recreation Supervisor will direct the daily operations of the facility, including staffing, safety, programming, marketing, budgeting, and community engagement. $67,605.00 - $71,468.00 Salary/year
Key Responsibilities
Oversee all aspects of ice facility operations, including ice maintenance, programming, and safety standards. Supervise, mentor, and evaluate staff; handle recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance management. Manage the financial performance of the facility, including annual budgeting, service pricing, and monitoring income/expenses. Develop and maintain efficient ice scheduling to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction. Promote facility programs and events in partnership with the City’s Marketing & Communications team. Ensure compliance with City, department, and industry safety policies and emergency procedures. Provide responsive and professional customer service, resolving complaints and inquiries with tact. Serve as Manager on Duty during peak times, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Participate in custodial duties as needed to ensure a clean and safe facility environment. Administer operational policies, standard operating procedures, and continuous improvement initiatives. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Management, Marketing, Business, Recreation Management, or a closely related field, or a minimum of five years of relevant experience. Previous experience operating an ice resurfacer. Certified Ice Rink Manager (CIRM) certification desirable. Experience supervising staff and team leadership. First Aid/CPR card required; additional certifications desired. Valid driver’s license. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Thorough understanding of the processes, protocols, and procedures used in operating recreational ice activities. General knowledge of the principles and practices of ice skate instruction, skate guarding, CPR & first aid. Thorough understanding of budgeting and financial accounts. Ability to think strategically and develop innovative ideas for increasing sales and controlling costs. Strong communication, customer service, and team leadership skills. Proficiency in basic business software such as word processing, spreadsheets, email, and presentations. Regular attendance and reliability are essential. Apply online –
