Job Summary
The Associate Director of Philanthropy, Georgia Cancer Center at Augusta University, identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards philanthropic gifts of $25,000 or more, with an emphasis on major gifts of $100,000 or more. The role involves strategically managing a portfolio of approximately 125 confirmed major gifts prospects. Responsibilities
Schedule and participate in face-to-face meetings with major gift prospective donors and/or donors. Identify and qualify new major gift prospects. Present major gift proposals. Close major gift solicitations. Raise total dollars. Works closely with the Georgia Cancer Center Director, department chairs, and faculty to develop and communicate the philanthropic cases for support. Utilize the expertise and professional relationships of the Director, department chairs, and faculty to identify and cultivate major gift prospects and craft major gift proposals. Document all donor interactions and donor relationship activities within the database of record. Collaborate with other Augusta University philanthropy professionals in planning and executing multiple college and university-wide alumni and donor engagement, stewardship, and fundraising events. Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 3 years of experience/training in fundraising, sales, marketing, or similar. Professional or volunteer exposure to fundraising in a non-profit organization. Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited college or university with three or more years of major gift fundraising experience in higher education or non-profit organization. Demonstrative success closing multiple gifts of $10,000 or more. Abilities
High energy level, integrity, and sincerity. Ability to multi-task, think creatively, and handle a heavy workload. Adaptability, good judgment, and initiative. Ability to work effectively with people of all ages and backgrounds. Willingness to work occasional evenings, weekends, and conduct multi-day business trips. Knowledge of standard event management tasks and resources. Experience with databases (especially Raiser's Edge) and internet searches.
