Position Summary The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) will provide high-quality outpatient psychiatric services as part of Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital’s Integrated Care Program, working directly with BILH Primary Care offices and BILH Specialty Practices within the Plymouth area. The NP will conduct evaluations, provide medication management, and partner with primary care teams to improve patient outcomes through coordinated and integrated care.
Key Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and follow-up visits for adult patients referred through BILH Primary Care and BILH Specialty Practices in the Plymouth area.
Provide evidence-based psychopharmacological treatment and short term medication management.
Collaborate with primary care providers, behavioral health clinicians, and care managers to support integrated treatment planning.
Offer consultation to primary care teams regarding diagnosis, treatment options, and behavioral health best practices.
Deliver brief supportive interventions and psychoeducation to patients and families.
Facilitate timely referrals for specialty behavioral health services and higher levels of care when needed.
Document all patient encounters in the electronic health record (Epic) according to BIDMC and regulatory standards.
Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to program development and quality improvement initiatives.
Maintain compliance with BIDMC, BILH, and state/federal policies related to patient care and professional practice.
Qualifications
Current license as a Nurse Practitioner in Massachusetts with prescriptive authority.
Board certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC).
Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
Minimum 1–2 years of clinical experience in outpatient psychiatry, behavioral health, or integrated care preferred.
Familiarity with collaborative care and integrated behavioral health models strongly desired.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
Commitment to patient-centered, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed care.
