This position is within the integrative health clinic at the Women’s Plaza. This practitioner will work with a team of an acupuncturist, nurse navigator, exercise specialists and a medical assistant. The Women’s Plaza is home to Women’s Primary Care and Women’s OBGYN providers. Job Summary
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides service to patients in designated care settings, including acute, short and long-term care, by assisting physicians, assessing patients, and treating injuries and ailments. The NP obtains a thorough medical history from the patient and, depending on patient population and setting, may perform an examination and/or assessment to determine patient needs. In collaboration with other healthcare professionals, the NP analyzes and interprets information from patient history, medical records, symptoms, physical findings, or diagnostic information to develop and establish an appropriate diagnosis. The NP coordinates care and rounds on patients as needed. They work in collaboration with providers and independently to provide care, formulate a treatment plan, and prescribe medications based on efficacy, safety, and cost as legally authorized if necessary to aid recovery and manage pain. They maintain complete and detailed records of patients high-level care plans and prognoses, consult with or refer patients to appropriate specialists when conditions exceed scope, and provide information to promote health, reduce risk factors, or prevent disease. They counsel patients and family members about self-management, tailoring instructions to individual circumstances. May cover hospital consultations, rounding, and assist with procedures as needed. Conducts research in the area of specialty and uses findings to improve patient care and outcomes. Incorporates evidence-based practice guidelines. Maintains current knowledge of state legal regulations for advanced practice provider practices, and stays informed about payer systems (e.g., Medicare, Medicaid, managed care, private sources). Demonstrates extensive advanced knowledge of medical principles, practices and techniques. Qualifications
Completion of a master’s, post-master’s, or doctorate from a nurse practitioner program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education or National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission. A master’s degree in nursing is preferred if licensure was prior to August 1, 1995. Demonstrated current competence and provision of care for an adequate volume of patients in the past twelve months, or completion of a master’s/post-master’s degree program in the past twelve months. Experience must correlate to the privileges requested. Current licensure by the applicable state board of nursing for advanced practice. Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit to prescribe controlled substances. Certified Women’s Health (WHNP-BC) or Family Nurse Practitioner (NP-C) or (FNP-BC). Obtains and maintains required department-specific competencies and certifications. Benefits
