Nurse Clinician II (RN) - ED Clear Lake (2P-2A)
position located at UTMB Health, Clear Lake, Webster, TX. This role is for an Advanced Beginner Clinician in the Emergency Department, focused on providing patient care aligned with nursing standards and UTMB policies, with ongoing opportunities to expand specialty knowledge and practice. Responsibilities
Professional Practice Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document daily patient care. Identify nursing diagnoses and develop an individualized care plan, revising as needed. Execute physician orders; administer medications and treatments; deliver culturally congruent, competent nursing care per UTMB policies. Perform routine technical procedures/skills in the assigned specialty area. Patient/Family Teaching & Health Promotion Provide basic patient/family instruction and healthcare teaching based on learning needs. Utilize evidence-based resources and Teach-Back to verify understanding. Identify factors affecting learning, including family dynamics as appropriate. Care Coordination & Delegation Plan, coordinate, and prioritize patient care activities according to skill level and complexity. Maintain safety and continuity of care with hand-off tools/processes and inter-disciplinary rounding. Demonstrate time management, delegation when appropriate, and proficient use of technology in patient care. Professional Performance Adhere to ethics, regulatory requirements, and culturally congruent care; advocate for patients and families. Communicate effectively to support a healthy work environment and collaborate with the inter-professional team. Leadership, Education & Research Support unit leadership, align with unit and health system goals, and participate in unit-based quality improvement, continuing education, and evidence-based practice activities. Engage in lifelong learning and change adoption; access and apply evidence-based resources in patient care. Qualifications
Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in Texas or valid permit to practice in Texas; current BLS required. Minimum six months of clinical RN experience and/or successful completion of probationary NC I period documented on a nursing evaluation tool. Licenses & Certifications: RN, BLS; ACLS & PALS/ENPC; TNCC (must obtain within 6 months of hire); ED experience preferred or required upon hire. Additional Requirements
