Overview Position:

Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) in a state-approved private school setting for students with disabilities and severe behavioral challenges. The SLP will assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, communication, and feeding disorders using evidence-based practices. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the SLP will develop individualized therapy plans aligned with students’ IEPs and behavioral goals.

Salary : Base pay range $67,688.03/yr - $80,829.03/yr. This range is provided by Behavioral Health Allies; your actual pay will be based on skills and experience. Direct message the job poster for additional details.

Responsibilities and duties

Conduct comprehensive speech, language, and communication assessments using standardized tests, observation, and data collection.

Develop individualized treatment plans and IEP-aligned goals; participate in Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) as needed to support communication needs.

Provide individual and group therapy focused on speech, language, and social communication skills; address feeding and swallowing difficulties as appropriate.

Use behavior management strategies to support students with severe behavioral challenges and plan/deliver instruction aligned with state standards.

Collaborate with teachers, behavior clinicians, occupational therapists, and other team members to ensure comprehensive student support.

Coach and model speech-language programming to paraeducators; collect and analyze data to inform goal modifications.

Assist in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and other relevant meetings; communicate progress, challenges, and successes to families.

Maintain accurate documentation of student progress, IEP implementation, and required regulatory records (IDEA compliance).

Stay current with best practices in special education and engage in ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology.

Current Missouri licensure or certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist. ASHA CCC-SLP preferred.

Experience working with students with disabilities and severe behaviors. Familiarity with AAC devices, PECS, and social communication interventions is highly preferred. Knowledge of ABA principles and behavior management strategies is a plus.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

Strong time management, written and verbal communication skills; ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Demonstrates initiative, sound judgment, and fiscal responsibility.

Collaboration and teamwork

Engage with parents/guardians, and participate in IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and related training.

Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and collaborate with school staff to support outcomes.

Provide in-service training to the BHA Academy team on special education procedures and AAC use to promote consistency across settings.

Classroom and behavior support

Help create communication-friendly classroom environments; provide in-the-moment behavioral support during therapy sessions as needed, in collaboration with behavioral staff.

Leadership and compliance

Model professional behavior and contribute to a positive school culture.

Manage and collaborate with team members per policy and applicable laws; assist with recruiting and development as needed.

Maintain thorough documentation and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations related to special education (IDEA).

Record and report progress, maintain billable and non-billable service data as required by the organization.

Professional development and other duties

Participate in ongoing professional development and reflective practice to improve therapy outcomes.

Take on special projects and other duties as assigned to support organizational initiatives.
