Velvet & Vine is a mental health practice offering trauma‑informed, queer‑affirming care for LGBTQIA+ individuals and those navigating trauma, grief, burnout, and anxiety. Our approach integrates relational and somatic techniques.

Role Description This full‑time hybrid role is for a Therapist (LPC/LCPC/LCSW) in Chicago, IL, with some work from home acceptable. The Therapist will provide trauma‑informed, queer‑affirming mental health services, conduct individual therapy sessions, develop SMART treatment plans, and maintain accurate client records. The Therapist will engage in ongoing professional development and participate in team meetings to ensure the highest quality of care.

Frameworks Queer liberation, trauma‑informed care, neurodivergent affirmation

and evidence‑based, measurement‑informed practice.

Professional Development Training and certification in complex trauma, trauma integration, polyvagal theory, and EMDR.

Workload Expectations Caseload of 28–30 weekly scheduled sessions, average of 22+ kept, late cancelled, or no‑show sessions per week.

Progress notes within 24 hours of each session, SMART treatment plans updated at least every 90 days.

Professional Marketing Develop and carry out a personal and organizational marketing plan centered on your clinical areas of interest and professional development in coordination with the Clinical Director.

Client Care & Communication Discuss financial issues and insurance coverage with clients transparently and compassionately.

Care Coordination Collaborate with primary care providers, psychiatrists, and other community supports to ensure holistic and integrated care for clients.

Qualifications Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).

Experience in trauma‑informed care and queer‑affirming practices.

Skills in individual therapy, SMART treatment planning, and maintaining client records.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment.

Commitment to ongoing professional development.

Background in relational and somatic approaches is a plus.

Pay Structure Compensation is a flat fee paid per session ($50‑$70) that is kept or billed as a late cancellation or no‑show. The flat fee is compensation for all clinical and administrative work and responsibilities.

Annual compensation range is $52,800–$73,900, depending on licensure status, years at the practice, years fully licensed, and the number of sessions kept or billed as a late cancellation or no show. Compensation range provided assumes an average of 22 kept, late cancelled, or no‑show sessions per week, and the range does not include compensation for paid leave and paid sick leave.

Paid Leave: 40 hours per year paid at $20 per hour ($800 per year).

Paid Sick Leave: 80 hours per year paid at $20 per hour ($1,600 per year).

Language Fluency Bonus: $250 every 3 months for Cantonese, Mandarin & Spanish.

Healthcare Stipend: 20% of your monthly medical insurance premium, up to $200 per month.

Certification Bonus: $250 every three months for holding in‑demand certifications.

Certifications & Trainings: Certified Complex Trauma Professional (CCTP) certification, EMDR training, polyvagal‑theory training, and more.

Continuing Education: Access to unlimited CEU database via GoodTherapy.

Directories: GoodTherapy, Psychology Today, and TherapyDen directory listings.

AI Progress Notes: Access to HIPAA‑compliant AI system for progress notes to reduce documentation burden.

Wiley Treatment Planners: Access to built‑in Wiley treatment planners for easier SMART treatment planning.

Networking & Event Bonus: $250 every three months for demonstrated commitment to and attendance at networking and marketing events outside of regular working hours.

Schedule: Flexible schedule that centers evening and/or weekend time created with your direct input and feedback.

Measurement Database: Access to NovoPsych for evidence‑based inventories.

Hybrid & Remote Work: Ability to work both in‑person or remotely.

Community & Social Events: Regular events to foster community and social engagement.
