As an integral part of the interdisciplinary team, the Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing process to provide therapeutic care to patients. The RN is accountable for coordination of patient care and education to patients and families in accordance with standards, policies, and practices in a compassionate, supportive, and therapeutic environment. The Pulmonary RN serves as pulmonary coordinator to work with Pulmonary and Interventional Pulmonary Physicians and Nurse Practitioners. The RN educates patients on medication compliance, routine periodic lab work, and preventative measures, and follows up to ensure testing and preventive measures are current. The RN triages patient calls and recognizes and reports signs and symptoms of complications. The RN manages physiological and behavioral functioning in relation to the recovery process, prioritizing improvement/maintenance of the patient’s state. The professional process includes data collection, assessment and nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation, and patient teaching to manage health problems, reduce morbidity and mortality, and support recovery. The RN practices with awareness of age-related needs and adheres to USC collaboration principles, demonstrating teamwork and appropriate delegation. Participates in ongoing departmental process improvement projects. Supports patient satisfaction through hospital-wide service excellence standards. Completes initial and annual skills validations. Functions as a patient advocate and assesses a patient’s knowledge base/understanding of their diagnostic and/or interventional procedure. Plans, with the patient, the course of testing/treatment in coordination with the physician. Assists with cardiac diagnostic and interventional procedures in the Special Procedures Lab. Evaluates patient care through the nursing process and patient satisfaction evaluation forms. Educates patients and families about procedures and treatments, documents results, and ensures chart accuracy. Maintains own professional growth through continuing education and stays informed on clinical trends, equipment, and procedures. Orients and instructs other unit personnel and serves as a role model to positively influence behavior. Performs other related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent (BSN grandfathered for hires prior to 12/2019) Minimum 1 year of nursing experience prior to application Excellent communication skills in English (speaking, reading, writing) Knowledge of medical procedures and conditions; ability to perform duties including whole blood collection and apheresis in accordance with policies and procedures Commitment to excellence in patient care and customer service Ability to work independently with minimal direction and supervision Experience in data management Preferred Qualifications

Experience with ambulatory care of chronic diseases Required Licenses/Certifications

Registered Nurse – RN (CA Board of Registered Nursing) Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider (American Heart Association) Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) – required within 30 days of hire and renewed before expiration (LA City only) Hourly rate range: $44.00 - $95.00.
