Job Summary The Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automated systems that improve efficiency, reliability, and safety in manufacturing operations. This role develops automation solutions involving PLCs, robotics, sensors, and HMIs, while troubleshooting existing systems to minimize downtime. The Automation Engineer partners with production, maintenance, and quality teams to implement process improvements and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on engineer with strong technical knowledge, innovative problem‑solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple automation projects simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities
Design, program, and integrate automation systems including PLCs, robotics, and HMIs.
Collaborate on new equipment installations and process control improvements.
Diagnose and resolve automation‑related failures quickly to minimize downtime.
Implement preventive maintenance protocols for automated systems.
Ensure automation systems comply with OSHA, NFPA, and company safety standards.
Maintain technical documentation and system validation records.
Drive automation projects that reduce cost, increase efficiency, and improve quality.
Support lean manufacturing initiatives with engineering solutions.
Execute additional responsibilities as required to meet evolving business needs and leadership directives.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Automation Engineering required.
3+ years of automation engineering experience in manufacturing.
Hands‑on experience with PLC programming, robotics, and SCADA systems.
Strong project management and technical troubleshooting experience.
Skills & Competencies
Proficiency in automation software, PLC programming, and robotics.
Strong mechanical and electrical systems knowledge.
Ability to lead technical projects independently and collaboratively.
Innovative problem‑solving mindset.
Strong communication and collaboration skills across teams.
