Construction Superintendent
based out of our Boston office located in Chelmsford, MA. As Superintendent for STRUCTURAL NE&F, you will provide high level management to other field leaders, foremen, and our open-shop that strengthen our nation’s structures. Projects typically consist of concrete repair, masonry restoration, waterproofing, and structural strengthening in commercial and industrial settings. As a successful candidate, you will be responsible for the following: Working closely with Project Managers, Division Managers and other leaders within the STRUCTURAL NE&F business line Participating in pre-project and pre-task planning activities and disseminating planning details to field crews Motivating team members to work together to accomplish tasks, coordinating work activities with other construction project activities, and assigning work based on material and worker requirements of specific jobs Ensuring crews operate all tools and equipment in a safe, proper, and productive manner Providing training and assistance to crews in performing related work tasks Assisting Project Managers in evaluating production rates related to the project Completing all essential paperwork in a clear and accurate manner Interviewing and hiring new field employees Providing leadership to the company’s Safety 24/7 culture Candidates who meet the following criteria may be considered for this position based in STRUCTURAL’s large Operations division: High school diploma or equivalent 10+ years of general construction experience with at least 5 years in a Foreman or Assistant Superintendent role Prior experience in general repair projects including concrete repair, structural strengthening, waterproofing, corrosion control, facade restoration, etc. Experience running 4 projects simultaneously, ideally in a commercial construction environment Proven ability to supervise multiple levels of field managers and crews with minimal subcontract oversight Ability to read, interpret, and execute construction drawings and contract specifications Strong commitment to safety and adherence to company operating principles Experience producing look-ahead schedules and using construction documents as required by the project Effective communication with customers, crews and project teams Intermediate computer and construction math skills Our ideal Superintendent candidate is an innovative but decisive field manager who can work effectively in a collaborative, team-based environment; can set goals and hold others accountable; can mentor others; is approachable and able to establish and maintain relationships.
