Job Summary Our client is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join their growing team in the Columbus area. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in electrical design, power systems, and industrial applications – someone who enjoys solving complex problems and improving reliability in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
Design, upgrade, and maintain plant electrical systems, including low- and medium‑voltage power distribution, switchgear, and motor control centers.
Lead electrical engineering support for capital projects, system upgrades, and new installations.
Develop and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and system documentation.
Troubleshoot electrical issues related to power, motors, drives, and instrumentation.
Oversee contractor work, ensuring compliance with electrical codes, safety standards, and design specifications.
Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on system reliability, energy efficiency, and automation upgrades.
Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and collaboration across engineering, maintenance, and production teams.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
5+ years of experience in electrical engineering within industrial, manufacturing, or heavy equipment environments.
Strong knowledge of AC/DC power distribution, switchgear, MCCs, transformers, and grounding systems.
Experience with motor control, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and PLC interfaces (Rockwell, Siemens, etc.).
Familiarity with AutoCAD Electrical or similar software for design and documentation.
Understanding of NFPA 70E, NEC, and relevant safety standards.
Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and project management skills.
Preferred
PE license or ability to obtain one.
Experience managing capital projects or leading electrical reliability programs.
Knowledge of instrumentation, SCADA, or energy management systems.
