Job Overview
The multi-disciplinary Product Engineer will be a key team member involved in product design, applications engineering, and product development within the Design Engineering group for Instrument Transformers at Meramec. Our primary customers are OEM manufacturers of MV and HV switchgear, circuit breakers, and transformers used in the North American utility (T&D) industry.
A Day In The Life
The primary product focus is Instrument Transformers for the MV and HV Utility Market.
Instrument Transformer design
Review customer specifications and requirements to evaluate design requirements
Develop and innovate new products.
Participate actively in IEEE/IEC/CIGRE Technical Committees
Engage in design engineering and process improvement projects
Manage engineering changes
Perform or oversee mechanical, environmental, and electrical simulations
Provide technical support to Applications, Process, and Quality Engineering teams
Travel up to 20% for off-site testing, marketing support, field reviews, or training activities
Qualifications for Success
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
3+ years of experience in Instrument Transformer engineering (desired)
Experience with routine and type testing of Instrument Transformers (desired)
3+ years in product design within a manufacturing environment (desired)
Knowledge of sensor-based voltage and current measuring technologies
Experience with utility electronic data communication standards and protocols
Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (preferred)
Proficiency with SolidWorks and/or Autodesk Inventor
Experience with simulation software such as Ansys, Comsol, or Simulia
Ability to travel for business trips
Ability to collaborate with manufacturing personnel and provide feedback
