Supervisor, Quality Inspection
for our Newburyport, MA, location. Job Purpose The Quality Inspection Supervisor will raise the quality bar in our shop. This role will lead and develop a high-performing inspection team, improve how parts are checked throughout the manufacturing process, and work closely with operations and engineering to make sure every part meets customer standards. Their work will directly reduce rework and customer issues and ensure every part meets the highest quality and compliance standards – helping us deliver the consistency our customers expect. Job Responsibilities Ensure inspection operations run smoothly and consistently, completing receiving, in-process, and final inspections without bottlenecks. Standardize and maintain inspection procedures and documentation, achieving full compliance with customer, engineering, and regulatory requirements. Lead, train and mentor the inspection team, improving skills and confidence in applying inspection techniques, proper equipment use and adherence to quality standards. Maintain calibration and effective use of inspection equipment, reducing measurement errors and downtime. Implement a defect tracking and reporting system, accelerating root cause identification and corrective actions. Collaborate effectively with engineering, production, and quality teams to resolve quality issues promptly. Achieve audit readiness, supporting successful internal, customer, and third-party audits by maintaining audit-ready inspection records and processes. Lead regular quality reviews and continuous improvement initiatives, driving measurable reductions in defects and rework. Provide clear, actionable inspection metrics and reports to enable data-driven leadership decisions for production leadership. Guarantee final inspections ensure only conforming parts ship to customers, reducing customer returns and enhancing product reliability. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required 5+ years in quality control/inspection, including 2+ years of supervisory experience in manufacturing Strong knowledge of aerospace industry standards such as AS9100, ISO 9001, FAA, and NADCAP. Proficient in mechanical inspection tools, GD&T, and interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints. Familiarity with CMM operation and programming (Calypso preferred). Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to precision and quality. Experience managing inspection documentation and reporting metrics. Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across teams. Experience with quality management systems (QMS), document control, and ERP software. Able to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Physical Requirements Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods during inspection tasks. Excellent visual acuity to inspect small components and read detailed documentation accurately. Must follow all required safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
