Merrick & Company is looking for a
Senior Electrical Designer
in our locations: Tulsa, OK; Greenwood Village, CO; Chattanooga, TN; Richmond, VA. The position will be responsible for designing power systems primarily for heavy industrial facilities, oil, gas & chemical projects. This role includes complete electrical designs performed at the drawing level and will assist the Project Engineer with drafting responsibilities and some design.
Hourly pay range : $40.00 - $52.00. Pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
What You'll Do
Application of knowledge of building systems (conceptual design): working knowledge of codes and standards including but not limited to NFPA 70, 72, 101, 110, 780; UL 96A; ASHRAE 90.1.
Assist the engineering team working with building/facility owners to ensure appropriate systems/products are utilized.
Lighting design, system types, and understanding of lighting/circuiting, color temperatures, lighting rules, and control.
Design of power distribution, panelboard schedules, grounding/protection designs.
Knowledge of the application of emergency systems, legally required systems, and optional standby systems.
Coordinate connections of all power utilization.
Documentation of calculations reflecting code compliance for lighting, power load, and voltage drop calculations.
Fire alarm design, telecommunications design (EIA/TIA standards), CCTV and intrusion detection system design.
Maintain growing knowledge of EIA/TIA standards.
Provide quality control reviews for self-performed designs and designs by others.
Support construction through problem solving for field oversight including RFIs, shop drawings/submittals, and field inspections/reports.
Project management: monitor work performed by assigned designers and ensure all project comments/markups are incorporated into design documents.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma required.
Minimum 8 years of experience in electrical design and drafting.
U.S. Citizenship is required for client projects.
