Coeur Rochester is an open pit, heap leach silver and gold operation. The Rochester mine is Coeur’s largest expansion investment project in its 95-year history. About The Job
Reporting directly to the Metallurgy Superintendent, the Senior Metallurgist will provide technical expertise, guidance and leadership in metallurgical testing and analysis. The Senior Metallurgist will be involved with the Assay and Metallurgical Laboratory, short and long-range metallurgical performance of the Heap Leach facilities, Merrill Crowe plant, Refinery and Crusher circuits.
Responsibilities
Perform all work in a safe and healthful manner with company’s safety and environmental policies and procedures.
Initiate and manage laboratory metallurgical test work.
Review and analyze metallurgical results from laboratory and operating data.
Prepare and review technical reports to ensure the accuracy of data and timely submission.
Optimize leach pad loading schedules and ensure efficient operation.
Assist management in setting achievable short and long term heap leach production targets.
Identify operational deficiencies and provide engineered and/or technical solutions to improve production.
Participate in site engineering design and functions as needed.
Plan, coordinate and implement research and engineering projects.
Clearly define and document project requirements, project schedules, resource, cost estimates, plans, and targets.
Foster open information flow and collaborative problem solving between team members.
Communicate technical concepts in non-technical terms and document information clearly.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering or related field.
Approximately 5-7 years of related experience.
Practical and applied experience with heap leach, refinery, crushing operations, and process control systems.
Metallurgy understanding and experience in troubleshooting and optimizing circuits.
Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
Prior processing experience working within precious metals.
Advanced computer skills in MS Word, Excel and database software.
