We are seeking a skilled Rubber Tooling Engineer to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining tooling for rubber molding and extrusion processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining tooling for rubber molding and extrusion processes. This role requires a strong background in tooling design, and process optimization for rubber-based components.
Responsibilities
Design and develop molds, dies, and tooling for rubber molding and extrusion processes (compression, transfer, and injection molding). Participate in new product introduction (NPI) and design-for-manufacturing (DFM) efforts. Work closely with production, quality, and R&D to ensure tooling meets functional and durability requirements. Specify tooling materials and treatments based on rubber compound properties and production needs. Oversee tool fabrication, troubleshooting, and modifications with internal teams and external suppliers. Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase tooling life, reduce scrap, and enhance product quality. Maintain tooling documentation, CAD files, and change control records.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or associate’s in manufacturing engineering, or related fields. 3+ years of experience in rubber tooling or mold design. Proficient in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, or similar). Familiarity with rubber molding processes and rubber compound behavior. Understanding of machining and tool fabrication methods. Experience with CAD software and design tools. (Inventor, AutoCAD, SolidWorks) Knowledge of rubber materials and manufacturing processes a plus. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of ISO/TS quality standards. Hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment. Project management experience with tooling implementation.
