The Opportunity We are currently seeking an
Electrical Engineer II
to join our Aerospace Design Group in Merritt Island, Florida! As an associate in RS&H’s Aerospace and Equipment Group, the qualified candidate will work with other RS&H Engineers and Architects on the design of facilities, infrastructure, and equipment for military, aerospace, and energy projects. Responsibilities include calculations, analyses, creation of system designs, and development of construction documents for launch pads, launch vehicle processing facilities, ground support equipment, military facilities, and large industrial equipment. The role involves coordination with civil, structural, architectural, and mechanical disciplines. Excitement for supporting space exploration is required!
Design of electrical power distribution systems, standby power systems, and building systems including grounding, lightning protection, lighting, fire detection, VESDA, access control, leak detection, warning systems, CCTV, hazardous gas monitoring, and telecommunications/data systems.
Perform electrical engineering analyses such as cable fill, wire ampacity, circuit sizing, conduit fill, short circuit, protective device coordination, load flow, demand load, arc flash, etc.
Knowledge of hazardous location wiring methodologies following applicable codes and standards.
Knowledge of components and materials, including material compatibility.
Ability to develop block diagrams, cable interconnect diagrams, ground schematics, electrical schematics, bill of materials, wire running lists, and control panel drawings. Experience with control/monitoring panels, RIO enclosures, HMI panels, and control pendants is a plus.
Design and selection of power and instrumentation components for ground support equipment to meet specifications.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university or equivalent.
Minimum of 7 years of related experience.
Professional Engineer (PE) License.
Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.
Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
US citizenship or permanent legal residency required.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of federal and military construction standards such as UFC.
Familiarity with UFGS and SpecsIntact.
Knowledge of NFPA standards 70, 70E, 101, 497, and 780.
Working knowledge of Creo and Revit.
Ability to perform lighting and power calculations using software like AGI32 and SKM Power Tools.
