Overview As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer at Jacobs, you will lead geotechnical tasks and deliver on a wide variety of water and transportation market projects—including dams, levees, treatment plants, bridges, and related infrastructure. Projects will include conventional design‑bid‑build and design‑build approaches. This position can be based in Corvallis or Portland, OR.
Responsibilities
Lead projects in the development and implementation of geotechnical data collection programs.
Conduct geotechnical analyses and prepare technical reports.
Develop contract documents and support project construction.
Mentor less experienced staff with the potential opportunity to be a staff manager.
Engage with a large interdisciplinary design team, interact with existing and prospective clients, and support business development efforts.
Assist the regional business group and geotechnical leadership in advancing the technical capabilities of the regional office and global geotechnical group.
Qualifications and Experience
B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering.
M.S. or Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering.
15 years of geotechnical consulting experience with a focus on water and transportation market or related infrastructure projects.
PE license.
Technical Skills
Exploration methods, geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring, and laboratory testing for soil and rock.
Experience with design, construction, and inspection of water and transportation market projects.
Design of typical geotechnical structures—shallow and deep foundations, earth retaining structures, embankment and cut slopes, and ground improvement.
Understanding of earthquake hazard evaluations, including liquefaction assessments, site‑specific ground response analyses, and design spectra development.
Preparation of technical reports.
Familiarity with computer programs for geotechnical analyses: SETTLE3D, LPILE, SLIDE or SLOPE/W, MATHCAD, FB‑Multipier, PLAXIS, and FLAC.
Preparation of design drawings and specifications.
