Overview Automation Engineer – Preferred working location: Cary, IL. Onsite requirement: Full-time onsite position. This position does not qualify for international relocation. All candidates must be authorized to work in the US and not require sponsorship.

What you will do We have an exciting position open for an Automation Engineer in our Cary, IL location. This role provides engineering leadership and support to high-speed, automated assembly operations. You will be responsible for support, design, development and testing of automated processes, systems and equipment. Responsibilities include initiating and implementing projects to improve manufacturing productivity, uptime and cost reduction.

This is how your journey begins

Prioritize and complete process engineering projects by critical deadlines to meet annual goals.

Conceive, develop, and carry out projects that automate, improve quality, reduce operating costs, increase yield and reduce downtime.

Design new high-speed equipment and machinery to support production and process engineering needs.

Conceptualize, source, evaluate, qualify, test, and install purchased equipment.

Modify and/or integrate existing equipment to improve processes in line with business needs.

Introduce innovative new assembly technologies into the manufacturing process.

Provide technical direction and training to the technician staff.

Identify, design and implement new technologies.

Support manufacturing on all shifts by troubleshooting challenging emergencies (normal work hours coincide with first shift).

What you will bring on the journey Education

Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering. Other engineering disciplines may be acceptable.

Experience

5-15 years of manufacturing engineering experience, preferably with high-speed assembly.

Automation manufacturing experience required.

PLC programming experience required; including S5 and S7 logic.

Experience with robotics is a plus.

Tool room and machine-building capabilities.

Skills

3D CAD proficiency.

Demonstrated problem-resolution skills in manufacturing environments.

Knowledge of FMEA, DOE, Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma tools is a plus.

Strong project management skills with experience leading a technical task force.

Strong need-analysis, issue resolution and deadline adherence.

Commitment to ongoing skills development through training opportunities.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.

Punctual, disciplined, collaborative, and able to work with and without supervision.

Urgent and rational with a willingness to listen and adapt.

Team-oriented with openness to new ideas and innovation.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $80,000-110,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on experience and geographic location.
