This is an open-to-qualified-candidates, position-specific recruitment. The resulting list may be used to fill this vacancy or future vacancies for this job classification. Nature of Work
The main purpose of this position is to provide support to the Area Material Engineer and to direct/guidance to Engineering Technicians, Project Engineers, Contractors, Manufacturers, and Suppliers in the materials clearance process. This position operates with moderate supervision to ensure materials used on projects under the Federal Aid program meet program requirements. This includes counties, municipalities, and local public agencies within the area of responsibility. This is an experienced level position that will provide direction to a materials technician position.

Education and Experience
Education:
Possession of a bachelor\'s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university. Experience:
Two years of experience in professional engineering.
Selective Qualifications
One (1) year of the required experience must be in Materials Quality Assurance, Material Testing, or oversight/inspection of roadway and bridge construction projects. This is a selective qualification, meaning it is more specific than the minimum qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications
Possess excellent oral and written communication skills Knowledge of Quality Control (QC)/Quality Assurance (QA) acceptance processes for materials in materials clearance Strong internal and external partnering experience Depth of knowledge in highway engineering, materials management, and material testing standards, specifications, and methods
Additional Information
Notes: Additional work experience in professional engineering or technical engineering may substitute the education requirement on a year-for-year basis. Master\'s Degree in engineering may substitute for one year of required experience. Professional Engineers registered in Maryland or in a state with comparable requirements are considered to have met the education requirements. Other Requirements:
Candidate must possess a motor vehicle operator\'s license valid in Maryland.
