Overview
This is a project-based, hands-on engineering role focused on supporting operations and engineering teams (mechanics, welders, machinists) across diverse initiatives. It is strictly on-site, with no remote work option.
Base pay range $36.00/hr - $38.00/hr
Responsibilities
Conduct Safety Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) .
Develop and maintain detailed work instructions
for new and existing processes.
Train experimental mechanics
and create training programs.
Lead problem-solving efforts
targeting safety, ergonomics, efficiency, and quality.
Collaborate with operations leads and engineering managers
on cost-saving projects and process improvements.
Provide technical support
for manufacturing operations.
Coordinate machine tooling and equipment purchases .
Lead capital projects
for new tooling and fixtures.
Potential involvement in fixture, jig, and test equipment design .
Ensure compliance with OSHA, Illinois EPA , and internal safety regulations.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
in manufacturing or mechanical engineering (minimum).
8+ years of experience
preferred; candidates with a master’s degree may be considered with slightly less experience.
Must-Have Skills
Communication : Ability to engage with mechanics, engineers, and external partners.
Lean Six Sigma : Experience in lean methodologies is highly valued.
Mechanical Aptitude : Ability to visualize and execute hands-on solutions in a dynamic shop environment.
